The roofing systems we install have earned the government’s ENERGY STAR® certification. That’s not all we do to be eco-friendly, though. Our energy-efficient roofing systems can be applied to almost any existing roof, avoiding tear-off and unnecessarily sending old roofing to the local landfill.

ENERGY-STAR RATED PROTECTION
MWE Roofing is proud to use Conklin Company Inc. products, which is a partner of the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program. Our reflective white roof systems meet the EPA’s stringent guidelines for energy efficiency and help to protect the environment in a number of ways. Those ways include reducing the energy required to cool the building, resulting in less air pollution. MWE Roofing also works to reduce the amount of roofing materials discarded into landfills with exceptional sustainability. Additionally, we do our best to reduce summertime heat island effects in city environments, slowing down the formation of smog.

ENERGY EFFICIENT ROOFING
Having an energy-efficient roof matters for a variety of reasons. Most commercial owners believe a roof is nothing more than top protection for a building. While this is partly true, a commercial building roof can have a massive impact on the amount of energy a building consumes. On average, the roof of a commercial building is exposed to the sun for 12 hours per day. During this time, the roof absorbs nearly all the heat it receives from the sun. This can happen even when the temperatures outside aren’t overly hot. The sun still produces solar heat, and the roof continues to absorb it.

When a roof absorbs heat from the sun, the heat doesn’t tend to stay on the roof. It works its way throughout the entire building and continues to spread throughout the building long after the sun has set for the day. This process of heat absorption and transfer puts plenty of stress on a commercial building’s air conditioning unit, as well as any other refrigeration systems installed within. These systems are now overworking themselves to combat the heat the roof has absorbed and transferred throughout the building.
